Myrtle Beach announces new Bike Week ordinances for 2009
Myrtle Beach has previously hosted two bike rallies during the month of May, the Harley Davidson Spring Motorcycle Rally and the Atlantic Beach Bike Festival. Both Rallies have seen large attendance and have increased traffic in our area. As a result, the Myrtle Beach City Council has passed various ordinances to curb the burden of traffic and other city resources. These ordinances will not affect your stay if you are not a participant in a bike rally, but we feel you should be aware of these local laws if you will be visiting the area as a participant.
Ordinance 2008-59. Prohibition of sales of Alcohol from 2:00 am until 6:00 am.
Ordinance 2008-62. No sitting, chairs, assembling or remaining on parking areas, lots, or garages or landscaped areas and no consumption of alcohol.
Ordinance 2008-64. Helmet and protective eyewear required for motorcycles and mopeds.
Ordinance 2008-65. No trailers parked on public streets or unlicensed private lots.
Ordinance 2008-67. Minor or juvenile curfew from 1:00 am until 6:00 am.
Ordinance 2008-68. No loud mufflers, EPA labeling required or maximum 87 decibels allowed at idle measurement.
Ordinance 2008-70. Maximum of two bikes per public parking space. All public parking spaces will be paid parking.
Trailer parking will not be permitted on the hotel premises and each bedroom will be allowed 1 parking space for either one personal vehicle or two motor bikes. Strict visitor rules will be enforced and quite time will be observed from 1:00 am until 7:00 am. We will no longer allow our guests or visitors to remain in front of the hotel building to assemble, view traffic, or for any other reason.
Since it appears that the City of Myrtle Beach will strictly enforce these ordinances we wish to advise you of these laws so that you will be able to enjoy your stay without interruptions or unpleasant surprises.
